Letters to Lermanet
3-4-2003Dear Arnie, Find enclosed a small donation. I know it isn't much but I hope it helps. You are a true warrior and I'm just happy to give to such a noble and just cause. Thank you for being you.
Here is a donation for you. I know it is not much, but everything helps.
You are doing a great job. I am an avid reader of your site.
I have been reading your website for over a year now and think that you have a lot of courage and stamina. I am an auditor and still think that Scientology has lots of pluses, although I very much agree that the criminal abuses should be prosecuted.
Have read some of the stuff on your web site.
Enjoy, ($ enclosed) thanks for doing what you do.
Thank you for your email, I certainly agree, Scientology is a very sinister organization.
I just received a newsletter from your group and I want you to know that you are right on with your views..
Please find a check ( enclosed) for $1000 Pounds Sterling...
An ex-member (OT)--------
thank you, I think your site is informative and accurate.
From "Week in Review" yesterday I got your "lermanet" website address. And I've been reading it ever since. (I've learned that reading a computer screen for hours on end can strain your eyes -- but I can't stop reading!) I'm a (Age deleted ) year old ex-scientologist (left after the Riverside trial revealed LRH's naval record), who took the LA Dianetics course in 1950, worked for LRH in Wichita (deleted)..audited for LRH in Phoenix, took I don't know how many courses, spent a year and a half at ST Hill in mid -60s. Had a private scientology practice in the 70s .
I emailed the "lermanet" address to a scientology buddy (we left the C of S at the same time in deleted). He started reading it and we've been chinning on the phone several times today. We're STILL able to be startled by the stories! (section left out with personal details of involvement with LRH and Mary Sue...) Again, Arnie, THANK YOU!
My very best wishes to you.-----
A number of years ago your website and links allowed my sister and I to convince my parents to not continue with their newfound 'religion' scientology. Although at the start they asked very little of our family, soon they demanded massive cuts from the profits of our farm, to the point at which my sister and I realized it was nothing short of extortion.
I emailed you then and thanked you, however I feel that I owe you more. Our farm is now merging with other farms around us, is better than it has been before. My ____ has just gone to University, and is studying _____ law. I am boarding at a private school. My sister and I have so much to thank you for - if scientology had prevailed in our family, none of this would have occurred.
Your work has been deeply appreciated by us, and I am sure many others.

re Mr Lerma: I visited your site. Thank you very much, Mr. Lerma. I appreciate so much the courage and honesty of ex- members. Only the strong people can fight and win, and you are a winner! And you are the most precious help for the slaves of sects. God bless you!
Enclosed please find a booklet of stamps. I know it's not much, but I wanted to contribute something towards your efforts which I consider noble and worthwhile. I hope that others are able to be more generous towards you than I currently can be. Thank you for what you do - you provide a very necessary service to humankind.
Approximately fall 1996 - From the memo line of a generous check from Mr. Robert Mintonthere was just one word, the "for" line read as follows: For: Shuteye
(meaning, that I could finally get a night's sleep without the worry of impending financial doom, this was in toward the end of the big lawsuit for posting scientology's once secret evidence of fraud to the internet)
And I sincerely appreciate the kind words in the letters that I receive, they help keep me willing to keep on 'keepin' on".

"Again and again I therefore admonish my students in Europe and America: Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-run - in the long-run, I say! - success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it."

John Atack's A Piece of Blue Sky
Ex-member of Scientology, John Atack exposes Hubbard's bizarre imagination and behavior, tracing the creation of Scientology in the years following World War II to perhaps its final schism following Hubbard's death in 1986. A shocking book that reveals all: the abuses, falsehoods, paranoia, and greed of Hubbard and his pseudo-military Scientologist henchmen.
John Atack has paid his dues enduring years of litigation with Scientology - use and act upon the information you learn
"I found this book much easier to "get into" than Jon Atack's A Piece of Blue Sky. I have been interested in the Scientology cult for many years, even prior to the Time magazine article in 1991; however, these books were even more scary than anything I had previously read. Imagine people following the teachings and "psychotherapeutic" methods of a man who is a compulsive liar, who constantly went into mad raging fits, and who choked his 2nd wife so severely he crushed her eustachian tube and caused a permanent hearing loss. If anyone doubts that Scientology is not as evil as the media and ex-Scientologists portray it, then they should really read this book. Corydon does a good job of exposing the inner workings of high level officials such as David Miscavige (the high school dropout who currently is one of the leaders of the cult), and these inner workings include extortion, harassment, false allegations against former members, and even physical violence. I am still stunned by accounts that Corydon records in this book. "(c) Amazon
Cults in Our Midstby Margaret Singer -PH.d
Margaret Singer has always been there for me, I called her out of the blue after one
of the ex-scientologists I know was apparently set-up.. we met at one of the last CAN
meetings in New York before e "CAN" was taken over by Scientology. A few months
ago [ late 2001] she was burglarized - and what was stolen? Just her files on
Scientology....I don't wonder who did that? If you do you need to read the books on
Combating Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan
Steve Hassan was involved with the Moonies, however the control
mechanisms used for cult mind control are the same, and they always work to some degree in
the face of ignorance. Both Steve and I, at different times, have appeared on the O'Reilly
show on Fox news.
